My words on the net

  • Enviromental extremist MDG blocks the 2026 budget

We have had an interesting week here in Norway where the coalition that runs the country has been on overtime to produce an budget for 2026. The coalition made out of AP(labour) SP(farmers party) SV(Socialist extremists), Rødt(Communists) and MDG(Enviromental extremists.)

AP, SV and SP managed to come to a joint solution but SV and MDG refused. In the end even SV gave in and left MDG alone against the rest.

What MDG has done is borderline treason. They have used their position to block the budget going trough, unless they got consensus for putting an end date for the production of Oil and Gas in Norway.

The reason I say this is treason is that these kind of questions about oil and gas is so important they need to be taken up in the parliament, for all the parties to vote on. Not just the sitting government. It is the future of all Norwegians at stake.

Norway has among the cleanest production of oil and gas in the world. MDG just don’t understand this and wants to push for an early end on the Norwegian production. Sadly they are not smart enough to understand that when one producer reduce their production another increase theirs.

There is global demand for oil and gas, and there will be for the next 100 years. Maybe not for gasoline and diesel, but fuel for ships, airplanes and not to mention clothes.

We use synthetic fabrics for the majority of our clothes. If everyone swapped to cotton or wool, there would be a environmental crisis that would be worse than even the Exxon Valdes scandal.

If there was an change in the production of Oil and Gas in Norway, someone else would pick up the torch. What we do not know then is what kind of production they would use. Would it be fracking?

Fracking is where they drill a hole in the ground, put explosives down the hole and make it go bang. What they hope is that the explosion creates stress fissures in all directions from the drilling hole. The issue with this is leakage to the ground water. It’s an extremely messy and polluting method.

What we do know is that Norway has among the cleanest production in the entire world. And by keeping the production here, we could even strive to become even better. We could increase our production and replace dirtier production elsewhere – thus reducing global pollution.

Norway is a tiny country. We are not even 6 million people. We have almost finished our transition to electric cars. We use electricity as our main heating source. We have done just about everything we can to reduce the carbon imprint we have. Our forests is getting bigger and bigger for each year even.

If we want to decrease the Norwegian pollution by say 5% the next 10 years, it would come at an extreme cost. Would it not be better to spend the same amount on developing countries that has a much higher amount of pollution than Norway, where we could take steps to drastically reduce their emissions? What would be 5% in Norway could be 60% in an developing country at the same cost.

Is it hard to follow? I can understand that. But it’s important stuff. And don’t sell yourself short! Remember, the people at MDG don’t understand it at all. They still want to cut the Norwegian oil production!

In the end MDG gave up their mission to either get a end date or make the government step down. It ended with MDG getting a promise that an commission would be created that will look at what Norway can earn money on when the production of oil one day comes to an end.

I think we still need to try to educate the MDG people tho. They still believe that we need to get rid of our oil production. Maybe they are paid by Trump? Who knows. He would surely like to frack more oil over there, but not if it would flood the market.

Trump is the most stupid American president ever, but he’s not stupid enough to do that.

We can only hope that by educating MDG slowly but surely we can get them to join in on increasing the Norwegian clean production and thus cut global emissions drastically!

I’ve been asked to clarify why I think of what MDG did was treason. That’s simple. Norway is now the main supplier of energy to Europe. If we set a date of 2030 or 2040 that will be the end of our production, it will create a logistically nightmare for Europe. They are in the transition to us, changing from the war criminals Russia.

Europe is our trusted ally, especially now that the US has betrayed Europe and Ukraine. This emphasize the need for Norway to be an stable energy supplier to Europe. We should thus produce for Europe as long as Europe needs it, or we run dry. Then we know we have done what we can to provide stability for both the Norwegian and European people.

With regards to MDG? Maybe its just best we don’t hear from them again anytime soon. Go sit in a corner of the parliament and be drowned out in the masses.

  • I lost content

I was away for a bit due to health related issues in close family, only to find that my page was down.

I can not get it back up with the data that was on it, and it will be a valuable lesson that I need to be better at backups also for my webpage.

What happened was that a database update made incompatible changes on my server that made it impossible to get it up and running again.

I’ll continue my journey sharing my thoughts about recent happenings soon.

    Best regards, Peder
